The association exists to provide a forum to bring together consultants who work directly in the homes with families and with childcare providers responsible for the care & raising of very young children. Consultants come to these positions from different backgrounds, and join the association because we recognize that we have knowledge to share, and opportunities to learn with and from each other. We all encounter the challenges brought by the complexity that is inherent in the situations of the children and families who are referred to our programs. We choose this work because it is meaningful and rewarding, and we stay with it because of the challenges it offers. We value the association because sharing our experiences and our perspectives with others involved in the same work helps us be even more useful to the people with whom we work. Together we have the potential to address the challenges in the field that have not yet been fully overcome. This is an ongoing effort, and many hands make light work.

This work of the association is made possible through the registration fees of individuals and groups, and from contributions of resources from supportive partners. Active participation in the work of the association is voluntary, and all members are encouraged and welcome to become involved as actively as they are able. There are always openings on the executive for those who are willing and able to give a bit more of their time and attention to these issues. The vision of the current executive is to be able to move ahead in working together to advocate for continuing improvement of the quality, standards, and funding for these programs about which we are so passionate. The association is in the process of renewal, and we look forward to the involvement of the existing, returning, and new members, and the future we can create together.
