I’ve lived in 100 Mile House with my family for the past 20 years, having grown up in Vancouver, studied in Montreal, and worked in Toronto. My husband and I have 3 daughters, now 14, 17, and 21. I was a La Leche League leader for 12 years and find the field and practice of supporting infant development fascinating. As a sole charge consultant, I really appreciate the connections to other consultants around the province through involvement with the association.

My name is Laurie Russell and I am honoured to be the president of the ICDABC. I have been working in the early intervention field since 1987. I first worked in a segregated preschool when there was block funding and moved into Supported Child Care when it was first introduced. In 2007, I completed my Child and Youth Care degree and immediately following in 2008 began working as an Infant Development Consultant. I love this field of work and all the dynamics involved in it!I first joined the association when it opened its doors to the Supported Child Development program. I believe in professional connections and feel they build and reinforce best practices in any field.

I have three wonderful grown children and a grandchild.

Prince George, BC

I have worked as a consultant as part of a self-directed team in the Infant Development Program in Prince George since August 2002. In the spring of 2011 I was hired as the Regional Advisor for IDP for the North region, and combine these two roles. Since I first started with IDP I have had some involvement in our professional association in some capacity – as a regional rep, secretary, and membership co-coordinator. In my personal life I like to walk, read, hike and practice yoga.I recently became a certified yoga teacher and teach yoga in both my own home studio and in a community studio some evenings and weekends. I am a parent of 3 grown children, mother-in-law (or ‘mother in-common-law’, as the case may be) to their three partners. I also have 2 wonderful grandchildren that I love spending time with whenever we can get together.
